DON’T KICK THEM OUT!®

DON’T KICK THEM OUT!®

Overview

Suspension does not solve or correct negative student behavior. In today’s suspension-ban era, educators need structured, trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches that improve behavior while strengthening school culture.

Don’t Kick Them Out!® (DKTO) is a comprehensive behavior training framework designed for Pre-K through 12th grade educators and administrators. The program equips schools with practical systems, consistent discipline strategies, and leadership alignment necessary to reduce suspensions, improve student-teacher relationships, and correct disruptive behavior—particularly among at-risk students.

DKTO focuses on prevention, consistency, accountability, and culture.

The Problem

Schools nationwide are facing:

  • Escalating disruptive and aggressive behaviors
  • Increased trauma-related conduct issues
  • Teacher burnout and  low morale
  • Inconsistent discipline practices
  • Disproportionate  suspension rates
  • School-to-prison pipeline concerns
  • Race, culture, and discipline disconnect

Traditional exclusionary discipline has proven ineffective. Schools need structured alternatives that hold students accountable while teaching appropriate behavior.

The DKTO Solution

DKTO provides age-specific training for educators at the:

  • Pre-K Level (Ages 3–4)
  • Elementary Level (Grades 3–6)
  • Secondary Level (Grades 7–12)

Each program delivers practical, real-world strategies educators can immediately implement.

Core Outcomes

Through DKTO, schools will:

  • Build teacher self-confidence and expectations
  • Prevent toxic student behavior
  • Implement effective, consistent behavior policies
  • Improve student-teacher rapport
  • Reduce suspensions and expulsions
  • Teach the behavior  schools want to see
  • Improve teamwork and   staff alignment
  • Address trauma-related conduct
  • Strengthen culturally responsive discipline practices
  • Improve overall school culture and climate

Elementary Focus (Pre-K–6)

The Elementary DKTO framework emphasizes early behavior foundations and trauma awareness.

Educators learn to:

  • Identify emotional and behavioral deficits
  • Recognize the top traumas affecting young students
  • Address anger, hostility, and defiance appropriately
  • Avoid ineffective discipline approaches
  • Apply the 21 Do’s and Don’ts of behavior correction
  • Strengthen communication with at-risk students
  • Understand the role of race, age, and gender in discipline
  • Build strong classroom structure and daily consistency

The goal: Teach behavior early, reinforce consistently, and prevent long-term discipline problems.

Secondary Focus (Grades 7–12)

At the secondary level, DKTO represents the final level of defense in shaping conduct.

The program helps staff:

  • Identify trauma-driven  behaviors in adolescents
  • Address fighting,  verbal assault, and defiance
  • Confront negative behavior effectively
  • Build student accountability and self-regulation
  • Recognize teacher personality conflicts and burnout
  • Strengthen staff teamwork and consistency
  • Understand the school-to-prison pipeline reality
  • Align behavior policies across departments

The goal: Create consistent, structured, and culturally responsive systems that support both accountability and student growth.

Leadership Component

DKTO also includes a leadership framework guiding administrators on:

  • Supporting staff with effective behavior policy
  • Promoting consistent discipline practices
  • Reducing toxic staff behavior
  • Building a healthy school culture
  • Aligning leadership teams
  • Establishing clear expectations and standards

Delivery Format

  • 90 minutes to 3-hour sessions
  • Multi-session institute options available
  • Onsite or virtual delivery
  • Facilitated exclusively by Dr. Jesse W. Jackson III

Why DKTO Works

DKTO shifts the discipline conversation from punishment to structured correction. It teaches educators how to:

  • Maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Build relationships without lowering standards
  • Implement practical strategies that work
  • Create team-based accountability systems

The result is a stronger school culture, fewer exclusions, improved morale, and better student outcomes.

Don’t Kick Them Out!® is more than a training—it is a framework for transforming school discipline and protecting the future of our students.
